Prismatic Polygon /paper Series
Prismatic polygons /paper series
Inspired by Sol Lewitt’s polygon series, Jay Walker’s Prismatic Polygon Series (paper) utilizes brighter colors and contrasting textures, with tape as masking material and spray paint to create vibrancy. In this series, Walker stretches the boundary of his work, more often full of symbols and iconography, and allows it to be a formal exploration of color, form, and pattern. In musing on how human beings have a broad color perspective, stemming from their basic need to search for food and fruit, Walker wanted to bring this simple yet ubiquitous lens to these pieces. In essence, the works in this series excite the visual senses and meant to be enjoyed. With layers of brush painting for variation, the lines break out of the polygons in geometric visual play.
